Starting Kit for Being Fit - 8 Things to Keep in Mind

We all sometimes struggle to achieve our goals.

These few things keep guiding me on my way towards "better me". I would like to share them with you guys, because I really think these are useful griffs to keep in mind.

1. MOTIVATION is what sets you on your way

This might seem obvious, but the first step in any successful journey (and not only the fitness one), is defining your WHY. Ask yourself: "

What is it I want to achive?"

Find your reason and remember it and repeat it everytime you are struggeling to stick with your plan. This will help you keep on the track.

2. CONSISTENCY is what keeps you on the way

The only way you can make the initial determination and excitement ever-lasting is to create a habit/routine. Make healthy food and exercise part of your everyday life. Stick to it, learn to love it and never stop, never give up!

3. Aim for small things

Setting goals is important but in doing so, aim at achievable goals. Stay away from too ambitious resolutions, which will only induce disappointment if not fulfilled.

4. Things do not happen over night

This is a very important point. You work hard and you want to see results asap, I get it. But please keep in mind that the results do not appear immediately. That doesn't mean that something is wrong. Just be patient, give your body time to adapt to new regime. It can take a month or even two before you see a change. But if you keep going, you will get the results, so don't you even think about giving up!

5. 30% is EXERCISE, 70% is NUTRITION

Or even 20, 80% they say. Here I might dissapoint you, but I'm afraid this is true. The major part of what you look like is determined by what you put into your belly. Even hours in the gym won't make up for bad food habits.

6. Just DO IT!

Planning is a good thing but action is key! Stop postponing, stop making exuses, stop waiting for a better moment and just do it! Sometimes, especially when I don't feel like exercising at the moment I just tell myself "don't think about it too much and just start". And really, once you start, you will see that you will get excited. And when you finish, you will feel proud of yourself for overcomming the reluctance and taking the action.

7. CHALLENGE yourself!

If you go a little bit further every single time, you will actually make it pretty far! Do not underestimate everyday basis and baby steps. Increase the weight or a number of reps each training, try to challenge yourself constantly. Get out of that comfort zone!

8. Accept failure

Every change, every innovation always comes at the risk of failure. Work hard, do your best but be able to accept that things may not always turn out the way you wanted them to. I also failed several times, before I found the regime that suits me and that I'm able to maintain. Everybody can fail, everybody fails sometimes. It is not about never failing but about getting up and not giving up when it happens. So be strong and be kind to yourself.
