Why I fell in love with swimming

Yes, unfortunatelly it is true...I DO NOT like CARDIO!!

Whenever I try to run, I end up gasping for breath, looking like crazy sweathy tomato. Not to mention cycling or rowing...Basically the only cardio I can stand is HIIT (high intensity interval training) because it is typically short and hence bearable:) But swimming, my dear friends, swimming is a whole new ballgame !

Here are some reasons why swimming is AWESOME

Swimming:

  • trains evenly the whole body, especially big muscle groups (like pecs, abs, back and legs)

  • promotes the right blood circulation in the muscles

  • promotes muscle growth

  • ensures the right muscle stretching and laxation

  • promotes mobility of joints

  • (with the right technique) releases the tension in the spinal area

  • has possitive effects on vegetative nerves (like stimulative effect on heart and lungs)

  • by swimming we burn 2-5 times more energy than on dry land
