Counting calories - part I. - WHY??

Why do I need to calculate???

  • Nutrition is MATH, luckily not a difficult one...

Like it or not, whatever your goal is (losing/

gaining/maintaining weight), it is all about math.

But don't worry guys, it is no rocket science....actually,

one simple linear equation will do:

-If your intake is higher than your output, you have a

caloric surplus and you are gaining weight

-If your intake is less than your output, you have

caloric deficit and you are losing weight

-If your intake is equal to your output, you are in a

balanced state and you are maintaining your weight

That´s how it works....as simple as that. All you need to

do is to determine what is your daily output and then

control and adjust your intake in order to reach your

goal. Of course, determining your output is more

complex task which requires assesment of several

factors (such as speed of your metabolism, level of

activity etc.). We will talk about how to get all the inputs

in the equation next time....

Counting calories is a systematic and logical approach towards nutrition and can help you achieve your goal faster and in a structured way.

I am not saying it is the only way or the correct way how

to change your body. What I am saying is that from my

experience, gaining an overview of what you put in your

belly helps you to also gain control over it...

Just remember guys - don't exaggerate it!! There are

certain dangers of ever-present couning. One can

quite easily become obsessed with it...Control your

calories but don't let the calories control you...
