I´ve cheated! Now what?

Junk food, sweets, alcohol...temptation surrounds us everywhere and it is completely normal that sometimes we just fail fighting it. Falling into temptation and cheating on your healthy diet can have a detrimental impact on your state of mind and motivation. Not letting such experience ruin your efforts is key. So whatever you´ve scoffed that you shouldn´t have, just keep calm and read what TO DO and what NOT TO DO after you´ve cheated...

DO:
Eat normally the day after.
It often occurs to me after I have cheated: "OK, I will just not eat tomorrow and everything will be fine" ...Nonsense! While cutting a little bit on your calories the day after your cheat day might be a good idea, fasting or skipping meals is not! Why? Because it is not sustainable and it might damage your regime even more as you may catch yourself overeating in the evening after a whole day of fasting and hunger, so don't get crazy and just go back to your normal eating regime.
Be active.
Ate more than you should have? Compensate by exercise. Do some extra cardio - go for a run, swim or a long walk.....Working out will flush all the guilt and bad feelings away and will make you feel way better about yourself.
Fuel your body with some clean energy.
Large amounts of unhealthy, heavy food or (and) alcohol are quite a burden for your body. So help it deal with this burden by providing it with some fresh and clean energy. Eat a bunch of veggies and drink a looooot of water.
Learn your lesson, find a positive take-away and move on.
Perhaps while choking on a plate of French fries you realized that you actually don't like them, so you're not missing on anything by not eating them. Perhaps your cravings revealed that your body actually lacks an important vitamin or nutrient or perhaps you understand now what the trigger of your cheating/overeating mania is. Whatever you can take-away from your cheating experience is valuable, so analyze it and try to learn from it anything that can help you prevent similar situation in the future.
DO NOT:
Create a negative mindset
Do not blame yourself, do not be angry with yourself, do not feel guilty or even depressed. Whatever happened is in the past now, so try to accept it and move on. But if you feel swallowed by the negative energy and you can't get rid of it afterall, try to use it to your advantage. Let it motivate you. Go for a run and let it drive you and perhaps even boost your performance.
Give up on your healthy life-style
Do not let one failure, one bad experience jeopardize your future progress and ruin everything you've achieved so far. Do not tell yourself "Now it doesn't matter anymore, everything is ruined anyway, so I can just continue cheating" cause that is simply not true! Gaining weight (same as losing it) DOES NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT! So instead of giving up, keep focusing on making the right choices now and in the future.
