Forget diet, change lifestyle!

Same as most people who decided to change their lifestyle and follow healthy regime, I don’t like using the term “diet”. After all, this word starts with “die”, so it cannot indicate anything good. If you really want to achieve a change, you need to change your lifestyle, not just adopt a secret magical diet for few weeks, which promises to deliver results…Because even though it may actually deliver the results, it won’t be sustainable and most likely won’t lead you anywhere. Once you get back to your previous/“normal” regime, all the progress will be gone and you may end up looking and feeling even worse than at your initial starting point (The famous jojo effect, more about which coming soon).
I really couldn’t emphasize this more, but
if you want to change your body permanently, you also need to change your eating habits permanently
Luckily, it is not that difficult and scary as it may sound. You are probably asking right now:
"Does this mean that I can never ever touch my favorite French fries again?"
"Am I never allowed to have a piece of chocolate cake?"
The answer is NO!
If you keep following proper lifestyle 80-90% of the time, it’s more than fine, so occasional cheating is allowed (actually it is even required! Because by shocking your body once in a while by foods high in calories, you are actually boosting your metabolism). The important thing to remember here, however, is that cheating should be really occasional. This means 1-4 times a month per maximum (not 4 times a week)*.
I’m not saying that it will be easy and that you don’t need a strong will…you bet you do! What I’m saying is that it is achievable and can be fun actually. Once you get used to making right choices and resisting temptations, the satisfaction with yourself and your achievements will more than compensate you for giving up these little eatable enjoyments. And when you eventually surrender to some sweet or junk pleasure, it might be either even greater experience than in the past due to its exclusiveness and scarcity or you may actually find that you do not like it anymore and will never miss it or crave it again. (Trust me this happens. I experienced this for example with my favorite Kinder Bueno, which is nowadays so sweet for me, that I do not understand why I used to like it).
So don't be afraid and make a change.
Start today with K!
*) Please keep in mind that there are no universal rules, everything about nutrition is very individual and depends on many factors and on your concrete type of the regime. The benchmark I provide here is just to illustrate what I mean by “occasionally”.
