Which nuts are the best for you?

Last week we talked about why it is good to eat raw nuts. But which ones to choose? Let's look at some specific characteristics of selected nuts and seeds to help you make the right choice.

Almonds - for your belly and line

-decrease sugar cravings

-promote optimal function of the digestive system

Brazil-nuts - if you fart...

-are the number 1 source of selenium that helps to

fight inflammation

Flaxseeds - for women

-are gluten-free, low in carbs and high in fiber

-contain lignants with estrogenic properties

-help maintain proper menstruation cycle

-help throughout the menopause

Hazel nuts - diabeticks' sidekick

-are high in magnesium, which improves the

glucose intolerance and so decreases the risk of

diabetes

Peanuts - for your muscle growth

- are high in dietary protein

- are NOT GOOD for people with thyroid

disfunction, since they cause thyroid lump

Pine nuts - for your bones

HDL cholesterol ("the good guy") level

Walnuts - for your brain and mood

-have the highest content of omega-3-fatty acids

of all nuts; omega-3 help to fight depression

-support optimal brain function, preserve memory

and by that help to fight for instance Alzheimer's

disease
